Before We Start…
CONTENT WARNING: live-action gore and violence.
In terms of research, this one is relatively really simple, there’s not much complication in terms of material, and a full list is going to be at the end of the blog. The most important things we can mention are:
- Just because we are using Lost Chapter doesn’t mean we are giving Beatrix Fortnite’s items and/or scaling, that should go without saying. We are also using Wick’s video games for his feats and arsenal, as long as it’s consistent. That being said, it’s also important to mention our focus will be on the movies, so don’t expect us to mention full revival items and similar video-game shit. We are also not factoring in his appearance in PAYDAY 2, as there’s no confirmation it’s canon to his cinematic universe.
- We also pulled a few feats from deleted scenes, primarily because we were looking for as much as we could to gauge how good of a killer Bill was. We are using those as far as they don’t contradict anything in the movies and were properly finished recording, just unused. We also checked John Wick’s deleted scenes for equal leeway.
To finish this section, three members from the community that weren’t directly involved with the blog helped us, so a huge thanks to Rina Antiqua for some of the calcs, ishi_yuki and L.A.D. for some of the edits. You guys made the difference for us :3
Background
Beatrix
They called her the Black Mamba, and in the world of assassins, that name strikes a chilling chord. But before the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (DiVAS, for short) knew her that way, she was simply Beatrix Kiddo. Not much is known about her past life, only that she was born to a family based in Germany. But that all changed when she met a man named Bill, who became her mentor and lover.
Together, they were untouchable, and under his wing, Beatrix became the most feared member of the Deadly Vipers. Then came a twist, so shocking it shook her to the core: she was pregnant with Bill’s child! That little heartbeat shifted something monumental inside her, as she saw a life outside all the blood and brutality. She plotted her escape: faking her death to sever ties with the lethal circle she once called family.
Out of that dark underworld, she fell in love with a man called Tommy, giving her a chance for a new start. They were now engaged and planned a quiet life together, but fate had other plans. On her wedding day, Bill and the Vipers found her. They did unspeakable things to everyone she hoped to carve out this new life with. Love, friends, the chapel, all shattered. They left her bleeding, abandoned, with a bullet in her head, sealing what they thought would be her fate.
But they underestimated the Black Mamba. Four years later, Beatrix awoke, alone in a cold hospital bed, her memories creeping back like a slow burn. Her baby was gone, her friends were gone, and Bill, ohhhhh Bill, he was still out there. A single purpose ignited in her: vengeance. Reclaiming her codename, Black Mamba, she honed in on each of the Deadly Vipers, cutting through them one by one. And believe me, when she arrives at her destination, she’s gonna kill Bill.
Wick
John Wick, a man of few words and precise actions. Not much is known about his childhood, only that he was born in Belarus and orphaned at a young age. His birth name was Jardani Jovonovich, and he was taken in and trained by the Ruska Roma in lethal arts, eventually making his way into the shadowy ranks of assassins that rule the city's dark underbelly. For years, his legend grew. They called him Baba Yaga, the Boogeyman, a name that chilled even the most ruthless in the criminal underworld, also known as the man who could kill three people with a fucking pencil.
Then, he met Helen. She was his light, the reason to step out of the blood-soaked shadows he’d inhabited for so long. Against all odds, John found a way to walk away, to trade in his guns for a quiet life and build a new existence fueled by love. Unfortunately for Wick, death did them part, and Helen passed away of cancer. Knowing her husband would be in pain with her gone, she left him with one last gift, a reminder of her love for him in the form of an innocent beagle puppy called Daisy. For John, that dog became his last semblance of hope, his opportunity to grieve unalone, his motivation to keep on living.
But when a group of reckless thugs led by Iosef, the son of a powerful mob boss Wick worked for in the past, crossed paths with John, they saw nothing but a man past his prime, a fucking nobody. They broke into his home, stole his car, and worst of all, took the life of the one thing he had left of Helen. But that "fucking nobody" was John Wick, and they killed his fucking dog. That night, they awoke to something that should’ve stayed buried. Baba Yaga. John re-emerged coming for the Tarasovs, and they would do nothing, because there was nothing they could do to stop his fury.
After leaving a trail of broken bodies and a shattered empire in his wake, the boundaries between John Wick’s old life and his new one collapsed into a single, brutal path. Since then, he has faced insurmountable odds. Bound by the authority of the High Table, the secret council that governs the global underworld, he was forced to honor a blood marker that dragged him back into the life he wanted nothing more than to leave, compelling him to assassinate one of their own. Betrayed immediately afterward and marked for death, Wick was driven into a corner where he killed his enemy within the Continental itself, violating the underworld’s most sacred rule.
As a result, he was excommunicated from the very organization that once held him in high regard, hunted by the same assassins he once called allies, and relentlessly pursued as the High Table deployed its adjudicators, enforcers and elite operatives to strip him of support and wage a global manhunt against him. And if the ever-expanding scope of his story is any indication, the violence, the consequences, and the legend of John Wick are far from over. From spin-offs, to TV series, to comics, to video-games, this franchise is likely never going to end. But if there is one constant, it is this: John Wick is a force defined by an unbreakable will and a code of principles that even his darkest deeds could never stain.
Weapons and Equipment
Beatrix
Hanzo Hattori Katana
Beatrix Kiddo's sword, masterfully crafted by the legendary Hattori Hanzō, stands as a testament to unparalleled craftsmanship. This katana, the only one Hanzō forged after his retirement, is often hailed as the greatest samurai sword ever made. The sword's design is both elegant and formidable, featuring a black, yellow, and white color scheme, with a black scabbard adorned by a carved lioness. We don't have official measurements for the sword, but comparing some of the best replicas of the sword online, we should estimate that the blade measures approximately 2.2 feet in length and is as thin as 4mm, enabling it to slice through flesh and bone with remarkable ease.
Despite having sworn a blood oath never to create another weapon, Hanzō was persuaded by Beatrix to break his vow for the sole purpose of killing Bill. With this exceptional sword in hand, Beatrix embarked on a path of vengeance, eliminating O-Ren Ishii, Johnny Mo, Miki, and numerous members of the Crazy 88. Ironically, while the sword was intended to eliminate Bill and the other members of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, it was instrumental only in O-Ren Ishii's death. In her final confrontation with Bill, the sword served primarily to defend against his katana. Neither Vernita Green nor Elle Driver were killed by it; in fact, Elle was left blinded and bleeding to death without requiring its use.
Star Firestar M-45
Beatrix wields a stainless Star Firestar M-45, a single-action semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP. This compact firearm features a custom extended barrel and an 8-round magazine, making it both powerful and easily concealable. Ironically, even though she consistently carried this pistol from the moment she discovered her pregnancy to her final showdown with Bill, she never really used the gun in the movies. We only get to see it in action under the Lost Chapter, released in 2025. I guess even us old-heads should thank Fortnite for that one.
SOG Desert Dagger
The SOG Desert Dagger is a formidable weapon, featuring a 6.5-inch blade crafted from AUS-6 stainless steel, with a thickness of 0.180 inches and a weight of 9 ounces. It was formerly used by the military, until the Studies and Observations Group stopped production. Its design includes a flat handle butt, enabling field hammering, and a double-edged blade with serrations, enhancing its cutting capabilities. She carries it in a sheath on her hip, most notably using it during her confrontation with Vernita Green.
Buck 112 Ranger
The Buck 112 Ranger is a small hunting knife, basically a compact version similar to the Buck 110. She stole it from Jasper, a truck driver she offed after he tried to rape her right after she woke from her coma. Ironically, the knife shares its name with the nurse who had assaulted her earlier, the same nurse whose ankle she stabbed with it. Buck was there to fuck, and he fucked around when he shouldn’t have.
Wick
Bulletproof Suit
In Chapter 2, Wick gains cutting edge body armor, complete with silicon carbide discs, ceramic matrices, and accompanying laminates, sewn between the fabric and the lining with zero penetration, though the pain is noted as still being present. It allows him to survive hits from even double barrel shotguns. Additionally, In John Wick: Hex, Wick can purchase special tailoring upgrades for his suit that increase his health, lower enemy hit chances, and increase the chances of his own shots landing among other things. In Chapter 4, in preparation for his final duel to the death with Marquis, the Bowery King gives Wick a new kevlar suit.
Painkillers
To heal the pain from wounds in case his stitches open.
Alcohol
Also to heal the pain from wounds. In more ways than one.
Handguns
Wick carries a shitload of handguns, and these are all we could keep track of:
- Heckler & Koch P30L: Arguably Wick’s most iconic weapon, this handgun is fitted with a custom compensator and contains typically a 15 round capacity.
- Glock 26: Features recontoured grips to improve comfort and control of the weapon, a flare magwell for easier reloads, and custom porting to reduce recoil.
- Glock 34: With 17 rounds, the weapon has enhanced accuracy due to its longer sight radius of 7.5 inches.
- Glock 34 (TTI Combat Master Package): The Sommelier gave this to Wick paired with the 26, and it has the same qualities.
- Glock 17: A common gun used by John’s enemies, it gets picked up by the Boogeyman himself during combat, giving him access to its enhanced polygonal riflery for improved accuracy and flared magwell.
- Agency Arms Glock 17: This premium version contains enhanced trigger systems, undercuts on the trigger guard for improvements to the grip, and the Agency Optic System, a mounting plate system that enhances versatility for numerous optic fittings.
- Glock 17L: Sporting a lighter trigger pull than normal, it also contains a longer barrel, sight radius, and extended slide compared to the traditional 17, optimized for competition.
- Glock 19: This small and compact pistol typically carries 15 rounds, interchangeable backstraps, and nDLC finish to enhance durability.
- Glock 19X: Boasting a Coyote Tan for protection, this gun is a blend between the 17’s full-size frame and the 19’s shorter slide.
- CZ P-09: This suppressed pistol has the OMEGA DA/SA trigger, allowing for the ability to easily swap between a safety and decocker, which is basically lowering the hammer on the weapon without firing it and blocking its trigger respectfully.
- CZ P-10 C: A semi-automatic, it has a high capacity of 15 rounds and a low bore axis for reduced muzzle flip.
- Kimber Warrior: The Bowery King gifts Wick this handgun, which contains only a 7 round capacity.
- Smith & Wesson SW1911SC “E-Series”: The suppressed handgun has a lightweight scandium alloy frame with a precision trigger, external extractor, and a beavertail grip safety.
- Kimber Super Carry Custom: Has a distinct rounded frame and unique unidirectional serrations on the frame and slide of the weapon.
- SIG-Sauer P320: The semi-automatic has a detachable metal trigger group, allowing for multiple changes in approach.
- TTI STI 2011 Combat Master: Carries 22 rounds and a 5.4 inch barrel, with a milled rib to keep the front in place for enhanced recoil tracking.
- Walther CCP: Unusual for its significantly reduced recoil, able to be used by individuals lacking in hand strength.
- Walther PPQ: Famous for its quick defense trigger with a 0.1 inch reset, with followup shots focusing on speed and accuracy.
- Walther P38: A World War 2 era semi-automatic featuring a steel frame and slide, short recoil, and Double Action/Single Action, which constitutes shorter and lighter pulls for shots following the first.
- TTI Pit Viper: At nine millimeters, this gift from the King carries 21 rounds, a built-in compensator with “virtually no” muzzle flip, fiber-optic front sights providing high visibility, ambidextrous safeties, a flared magwell, and two pound extreme trigger designed for minimal resistance.
- Thompson Center Arms Encore: This is the final gun Wick used while going head to head with his old friend Caine in a standoff for their freedom. With three .44 magnum bullets at hand (one at a time) and a lever to open the breach.
- Colt M1911A1: Another old timer handgun, it has a 7 round detachable magazine and extended beavertail to prevent hammer bite, which is when a 1911 pistol pinches or cuts the web of the shooter’s hand during recoil.
- Webley .455 Mk VI: Sports squared grips, 6 shots, and automatic extraction.
- Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless: Famously used by Winston to betray John after he refused it, it features a fixed barrel, internal hammer, and very small sights designed to prevent catching on clothes while being drawn.
- Generic Custom Handgun (John Wick: Hex): The default gun of Hex has 15 total shots
- 9mm Automatic (John Wick: Hex): Another one of the most common guns has 17 total shots in total
- Generic Revolver (John Wick: Hex): The revolver only has around 6 shots
Shotguns
Wick also carries a shitload of shotguns, and these are all we could keep track of:
- Kel-Tec KSG: With a unique bullpup design that has the action located behind the trigger, this high capacity shotgun utilizes two separate magazine tubes, allowing for faster reloading. Combined with a specialized vertical foregrip, the shells eject downward.
- Benelli M4 Super 90: Sporting a custom bolt carrier release and charging handle, along with textured grips.
- Benelli M2 Super 90: In Chapter 3, Wick obtains this 12 gauge shotgun during the Continental Siege, which has armor piercing rounds.
- TTI Dracarys Gen-12: Loaded with incendiary Dragon’s Breath rounds, this monster of a weapon generates fast fireball shots.
- Generic Shotgun (John Wick: Hex): The generic shotgun has 8 total shots
- Bullpup Shotgun (John Wick: Hex): It also has 8 total shots
Rifles
You guessed correctly, Wick also carries a mountain of rifles, and these are all we could keep track of:
- Coharie Arms CA-415: This rifle has a shortened barrel, vertical grip, and both semi-automatic and full-auto capability.
- DTA Stealth Recon Scout: Designed for sniping, this bolt-action is notable for its 22-26 inch free-floated match barrel and adjustable trigger.
- Taran Tactical Innovations TR-1 Ultralight: At 11.5 inches, this bad boy contains an ion-bonded bolt carrier and trijicon accupoint scope with one-six magnification.
- TTI V Seven Harbinger: Customizations include a pinned and welded TTI AR-10 compensator, Trijicon TR25 1-6x24 scope, and HIPERFIRE HIPERTOUCH EClipse trigger.

- Generic Machine Pistol (John Wick: Hex): It has 30 shots
- Generic SMG (John Wick: Hex): It has 30 shots
Wakizashi
A traditional Japanese short sword Wick used in John Wick 3, which he used to finish off Zero.
Nunchucks
In John Wick 4, John Wick decided it was time to be more of a party dude. He got close, but more akin to the mood of a Last Ronin.
Explosives
In the movies, he mainly uses remote explosives and incendiary grenades, but he can steal from enemies/use normal grenades in the game John Wick: Chronicles.
Knives
Wick uses various types of knives in the series, be it the Microtech Ultratech, Microtech Cypher, Microtech Combat Troodon, Hawk Deadlock Model C, Karambit, Benchmade Infidel etc. His focus is usually on OTF knives, which deploy their blades through the handle’s front with the push of a button. You can probably find one hidden in his calf.
Pencil
It was literal! Wick famously used two pencils to brutally kill assassins coming for his 7 million dollar bounty…
Pretty Much Anything He Can Get His Hands On
As Wick himself would say, yeah…
- Biker helmet (look above)
- A Garrote
- A metal bar
- Nunchucks
- Poker card
- Ax
- A book
- Belt

Vehicles
Beatrix
Kawasaki ZZR 250
When Beatrix arrives in Japan, she uses the bright yellow motorcycle to arrive at House of Blue Leaves to kill O-Ren Ishii. If it wasn’t evident, the looks are there to emulate Bruce Lee’s look from Game of Death. Powered by a 248cc liquid-cooled inline-two producing approximately 35-40 hp, the Kawasaki ZZR 250 achieves real-world top speeds of around 150-160 km/h, potentially 170 km/h under extremely optimal conditions.
Pussy Wagon
Stolen from Buck and arguably more iconic than her motorcycle, the Pussy Wagon is a bright yellow 1997 Chevrolet C-2500 Silverado Fleetside, which is a heavy-duty pickup truck. The truck is the Bride’s first vehicle during her quest for vengeance after awakening from the coma, and we see her using it as she arrives at Vernita Green’s house. When talking with Esteban Vihaio, she mentions the vehicle “died,” but we’re including it in the blog anyway. The truck features a 5.7L (350 cu in) V8 engine delivering 255 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque, and is paired with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible [Typ 14]
Beatrix uses this car in her search to find and to confront Bill once and for all, leading her to a secluded hotel in Acuña, Mexico. Originally powered by a 1.6L air-cooled flat-four producing 46 hp, this Karmann Ghia has been modified with a rear-mounted Porsche 911 air-cooled flat-six, typically producing 130-170 hp, dramatically increasing its performance and raising its potential top speed well beyond the stock 128 km/h.
Wick
1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429
Powered by a race-bred 7.0L (429 cubic in) Boss 429 V8 producing upwards of 374 horsepower and around 450 lb-ft of torque, the 1969 Mustang Boss 429 delivered top-tier late-1960s muscle-car performance, with real-world top speeds in the range of approximately 190-205 km/h depending on gearing. The car can take a lot of punishment, being severely damaged in its side by other vehicles before Wick continued to effortlessly drive it and even use it as a weapon by using its nearly broken driver’s door to take out a chasing biker. It was sent to an auto repair shop for repairs following Wick retrieving it from the surviving Tarasov Mob.
2014 Yamaha MT-09
Powered by an 847cc liquid-cooled inline-three producing 115 hp and 87.5 Nm of torque, the 2014 Yamaha MT-09 delivers strong middleweight performance, with a real-world top speed of approximately 210-215 km/h, depending on rider position and conditions.
Horse
You guys would ask about it. An average riding horse can sustain about 1 horsepower of output, with short bursts reaching up to 10-15 hp, and is capable of galloping at 40-48 km/h, with peak sprint speeds approaching 70 km/h depending on breed and conditioning. The horse is black just like Wick’s clothes. The real horse that portrayed in the film was a then 12 year old American Saddlebred named Gene.
Skills/Abilities
Beatrix
Stealth
The upper limits of Beatrix’s full potential are left kinda vague, but Kiddo's use of stealth is highlighted in a scene in particular: when she evades Gogo Yubari, one of O-Ren Ishii’s most lethal associates by hiding in the ceiling rafters before she arrived at the main hall. Not only was she successful, it also showcased her ability to think quickly and use her surroundings to avoid confrontation until she was ready, which happened after she captured Sofie Fatale.
Improvisation
With a bit of thinking, adaptability and, quite honestly, a bit of luck, Kiddo is able to narrowly escape danger on numerous occasions. Against Gogo, she cleverly uses a broken chair leg studded with nails to defeat the deadly schoolgirl. In her battle with Elle Driver, Beatrix's quick thinking shines when she uses the environment to her advantage, grabbing Elle’s head and repeatedly slamming it into the toilet lid, and later plucking out Elle’s remaining eye, rendering her blind and helpless. Beatrix has a unique talent for turning any available object into a deadly weapon, and she instinctively selects the most effective means to survive even the most dangerous circumstances.
Marksmanship
Despite being a sword person, Beatrix is also highly proficient with firearms! When she threatened to shoot Karen Kim between the eyes, Beatrix claimed to be a better shot than Annie Oakley, who is one of history’s most legendary sharpshooters, famous for her extreme precision, trick shooting, and ability to hit tiny or moving targets with near-perfect accuracy. Like we mentioned before, the movies don’t actually show her using her pistol, but we are now able to see some of this precision on the Lost Chapter, when she manages to shoot Yuki in her right breast, and she also manages to hit the mirror of a speeding car while aiming at her.
Swordsmanship
Beatrix's swordsmanship is impressive, with her preferred style being Kenjutsu, a traditional Japanese swordsmanship school that teaches both offensive and defensive techniques. She possesses exceptional skill with single-edged weapons, a talent she demonstrated during her initial encounter with Pai Mei using a Jian. Her training under Pai Mei refined her techniques, enabling her to skillfully counter Bill’s sword attacks later on. Although O-Ren Ishii pointed out that Beatrix wasn’t as skilled as she believed, Beatrix still succeeded in defeating her with a katana. Her abilities extend beyond single-sword combat, as she can also effectively wield two swords, as shown in her battle against the Crazy 88. Moreover, Beatrix is a precise knife thrower with lethal accuracy, evident when she fatally struck Vernita in the chest, and altho she prefers hand-to-hand combat and swordplay.
Martial Arts
Beatrix Kiddo is a formidable and highly skilled fighter, trained by both Bill and Pai Mei. Before her training in Hung Gar Kung Fu under Pai Mei, she had already mastered several martial arts styles, including Tiger and Crane, even demonstrating her strength by breaking wooden panels. Her martial arts repertoire is extensive, encompassing techniques such as Heihugquan (Black Tiger Style), Bái Hè Quán (Fujian White Crane Style), Shéquán (Fanged Snake Style), Jeet Kune Do, and Capoeira. Each of these styles contributes to her versatility and effectiveness in combat.
Under Pai Mei's rigorous training, Beatrix learned Hung Gar Kung Fu and was introduced to some of the most advanced and deadly techniques in martial arts. One such technique is the Three-Inch Punch, which, as Pai Mei explained, allows the practitioner to deliver a powerful blow even when the enemy is mere inches away. While Beatrix hasn’t used this technique on a person, she demonstrated its power by breaking through a wooden coffin after being buried alive. Pai Mei's teachings also included more lethal techniques, such as eye-plucking, which Beatrix used to blind Elle Driver in their confrontation. Talking about full lethality, Pai Mei also taught her the...
Five-Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique
Pai Mei has taught Beatrix his most famous technique, and she is supposedly the only student of Pai Mei to have mastered this fatal move. The technique involves hitting the opponent with your fingertips at five different pressure points on the opponent's body. After the opponent has taken five steps, they are already dead. Their heart explodes inside their body, and they fall dead to the floor. This isn’t an exaggeration, since we see Beatrix use it against Bill in the last fight of the movie to kill him.
Drop Kick!
It’s Tarantino. You guys know he likes feet.
Spanking
Apparently the foot fetish wasn’t enough…
Multilingualism
She is fluent in English, Japanese and Mandarin. She also knows a bit of Cantonese and Spanish.
Wick
Stealth
Wick uses stealth on multiple occasions. In the third movie, Wick used his stealth to disappear in front of assassins that specialized in stealth. In his fight with Zero, Wick repeatedly used this trick to gain the upper hand.
Weapon Mastery/Improvisation
Perhaps the most famous aspect of Wick inside and outside of his world is his tendency to improvise with the environment and use anything he can get his hands on as a weapon. The most famous example would be killing foes with pencils on the spot. He commonly takes guns from enemies when his own run out of ammo, uses tools from a car to a can of cat food to distract them, and even just shoots a physically stronger opponent’s knees when he knows he’s outmatched. He is also capable of easily adapting strategies to make the best of the hand he’s been dealt, like when he dual wielded a sword and gun against Caine doing the same, took out a biker by breaking the door off after it was heavily damaged, and after losing poker to Killa Harken, grabbed one of the cards and used it to slash his throat.
Marksmanship
Thanks to his training, Wick is remarkably adept at using guns, being perfectly capable of shooting inside a car and on horseback, as well as expertly maneuvering shots to bypass heavy body armor on henchmen. He also uses the environment to enhance his shots when strategic, such as using a room full of mirrors to his advantage by shooting through them to hit the enemy. You might also have noticed that he is also very good at landing headshots, particularly with medium range handguns.
Martial Arts
While little is known about Wick’s training, we’ve seen him utilize several forms of martial arts throughout his career. These include Judo, Jijutsu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Krav Maga, Sambo, Muay Thai, Aikido, Kali, and Jeet Kune Do. Wick’s specialty however is a unique form of martial arts called “Gun-Fu.” This style combines John’s martial arts with guns. This basically means he can throw hands while holding a gun. In combination with a professional understanding of human anatomy, John systematically targets vital weak points and takes opponents very easily. Additionally, his melee attacks have even been able to stun enemies in John Wick: Hex as they deal damage to the enemies’ focus.
Wound Management
Wick is shown to possess practical knowledge of field medicine, including the treatment of gunshot wounds and other serious injuries. And yes, he uses alcohol too, it wasn’t just a joke.
Multilingualism
He is at least fluent in English, Russian and Indonesian. Well, in the lore, not on the big screen. Blame Hollywood.

Scaling
Beatrix
Deadly Viper Assassination Squad
- Bill could throw a knife and carve it in a young man’s skull from a relatively low distance
- Bill can swing his Hanzo sword really fast
- O-Ren Ishii could slice hands even as a kid
- O-Ren Ishii decapitated Boss Tanaka with a single sword slash
- O-Ren has accurate precision with a Heckler & Koch PSG-1
- O-Ren dodges shots from multiple Norinco Type 54 pistols - (Or does she? Check Before the Verdict)
- O-Ren kills Pretty Riki, who could partially survive a grenade explosion - (likely 65.5 Kilojoules, Check Before the Verdict)
Master Pai Mei
While Pai Mei was a real person with a lot of Chinese legends, we are clearly talking about the fictional version of the character we see in Kill Bill. Beatrix was his only pupil that mastered the Five-Point Palm technique, and he was killed by Elle Driver, no brainer.
- Killed 60 people at the Shaolin Temple with his Five-Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique
- Precise sword throwing
- Can punch through wood - (1.5 to 2.9 Kilojoules)
Wick
Misc Assassins
Wick is comparable, equal or outright superior to countless characters in this universe, especially considering the ones he killed in his own movies. Moving to the spin-offs, Eve is narratively inferior to him in most aspects during the Ballerina movie, especially her strength. In The Continental, even when considering characters like the Hansel and Gretel Twins and Yen, who are clearly portrayed as the strongest among the spin-off cast, others are still able to keep up to some extent. More importantly, Winston speaks of John Wick as the deadliest man he has ever seen, even with fighters like them in mind, which reasonably implies upscaling. We will make a short list of some relevant feats here:
- Eve has faster quickdraw than veteran Kikimoras
- Eve can pluck her finger into a guy’s eye socket
- Eve is launched by a grenade explosion from a distance
- Lou easily breaks a man’s face and crushes him in a phone booth
- Cormac breaks through a hollow brick wall with a metal bar
- Frankie encounters a killer that shrugs off bullets and slices people’s heads in two with his machete
- The Twins are blown up by a mail bomb at point blank
- A grenade explodes on Lemmy (He survives long enough to talk to Winston and then he dies after)
- Hansel seemingly dodges a bullet - (Check Verdict)
- Calamity can hit Wick’s leg while he’s driving a motorcycle
- Calamity can jump really high
- Yen stabs a man through the skull with a clothes iron
- Frankie seemingly dodges bullets after they’re fired
- Caine can dodge arrows after they’re fired from a decent distance away, likely based on the sound of the string being released - (28.43 m/s)
- Chidi blocks an arrow - (47 m/s)
Weaknesses
Beatrix
For all her ruthless prowess and seemingly unbreakable spirit, even the Black Mamba has her limitations. Her deadliest moves, like the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique, require her to be within inches of her target, and that necessity for close-range can turn her advantage into a risk. Beatrix also seems to be very dependent on her own luck sometimes, and thankfully, miss fortune danced on her side more than once. Take the fight with Gogo Yubari for example, when a stroke of fortune placed a nail-studded plank within her reach just when she needed it most. Without it, she may not have walked away and her revenge act would have been cut short real soon. Worst of all, despite having great speed, she… also happens to get shot a lot, be it by actual bullets, rock salt, a dart with a serum, you name it. Speaking of getting shot, her biggest fumble in the films occurs when, despite tracking Budd to his isolated trailer and positioning herself beneath it to remain undetected, she walks straight into a trap he had already prepared for her.
Wick
Wick is certainly a force to be reckoned with, but he's still human at the end of the day. Shoot or stab him in the right spot and he won't be getting back up. John also seemingly has no concern for his well-being and will keep pushing himself even if he's seriously injured. And while the Bulletproof Suit can protect him from bullets, it doesn't fully absorb its impact, meaning that it still hurts whenever he's shot.
Before the Verdict
Kill Bill Higher-Meta Speed Feats
Despite the nature of Kill Bill, some feats are discussed in the community as possibly granting its characters even greater speeds than we put them at. So let’s start already with the feat where O-Ren seemingly dodges shots from multiple Norinco Type 54 pistols, due to the presentation in the animated segment. This one is kinda straightforward to explain: O-Ren does not remain exposed while the shooters begin firing and then react to the bullets mid-flight, instead, she moves behind the body she’s using as cover before the gunmen actually open fire. By the time the shots are fired, she is already fully covered. In other words, this isn’t a case of her reacting to incoming bullets. It’s a case of her anticipating the attack and positioning herself behind cover ahead of time, there’s no moment where she is visibly exposed while rounds are already traveling toward her. The gunfire happens after she has disappeared behind the body.
Now, let’s move to Beatrix vs Karen, where the Bride, recently discovered to be pregnant, ducks to the ground to catch her pregnancy test and miraculously avoids getting shot by Karen with a sawed-off Remington 870, and when Karen enters the room, she is nowhere to be seen for some seconds. Karen even emphasizes her marksmenship by stating she’s a “fucking surgeon with a shotgun,” which is often brought up to argue that Beatrix must have performed some kind of extreme speed feat to avoid the blast. Unfortunately, that’s not the case (again). Simply put, there’s nothing in this scene that actually suggests in-tandem movement with the shot, as she is clearly framed to have repositioned herself before Karen could complete the shot. Second, there is no faster-than-eyesight feat to be discussed either. Karen does not visually track Beatrix and then lose her mid-movement, nor is there any depiction of a blur, afterimage, or sudden displacement across the environment. Beatrix is simply not where she expected her to be when the shot goes off.
Besides these two, there’s a lot of other arguments that are argued to fall under potential "technical in-tandem with bullets”, and given the easier nature to explain, they will be covered with John Wick’s own similar arguments inside the Verdict. However, one feat stands apart from them that we need to discuss here: where Beatrix kicks a mug, supposedly before the sound of a gunshot’s echo fades, which at a high-end interpretation would suggest reaction speeds of about 177.10 m/s (or Mach 0.51). Being honest, this one is slightly weird, especially considering she was far from able to dodge or even notice the bullet. It’s unclear if the actual intention with the scene was having Beatrix react within the echo or if that’s just a problem with the sound mixing of the scene, as Kill Bill has these cinematic slow-mo scenes from time to time. We then went to the script to check how this scene was supposedly meant to play out, but it turns out that the scene is very different from the original script. The bullet was meant to hit the mug, Beatrix would throw herself on the floor and throw a table, yeah… In its defense though, the absolute high-end we are giving is still way slower than the muzzle velocity of a gun, so it’s not like she’s faster than point blank bullets anyway. For completionist’s sake, we will consider what happens if you give her the highball or not in the Verdict.
Pretty Riki’s Elevator Action
If you clicked the calc for this feat, you might’ve noticed there’s a 327.5 kJ end for this one. We advise again to not use that end, because the 65.5 kJ end is more reliable due to reflecting how the effective energy is delivered to the body from a single localized blast, rather than artificially stacking multiple explosions as if their full outputs were simultaneously absorbed. The fact that his legs were blown off (taken into account on the calc) is even more proof that the energy was not uniformly distributed across Riki’s entire body, and the lower end accounts for the amount of force he can resist considering what was left of his body. If the full combined output of five grenades had been absorbed, the result would have been total body destruction rather than a partial dismemberment (in this case, his legs).
Rock BTV 2.0: Glass Edition? Maybe not…
Probably the most infamous John Wick feat is him breaking bulletproof glass in John Wick 3. Now, is this feat legitimate? …Kinda, but the logic of the calc is somewhat inflated for it, and at the same time way too lowballed. How come? Well, let’s talk about it.
The
feat in question has Wick slam someone into bulletproof glass, causing
it to significantly crack… and then having him slam them into it again, causing it to shatter. This is the issue that most calcs don’t take into account - Wick did not shatter
the glass fully all at once, he did it in two blows. This would
theoretically weaken the calc significantly as a result... but
thankfully, the calcs also didn’t take into account that bulletproof
glass itself varies massively in composition, thickness, and resistance.
Most calculations default to extremely conservative PSI values and
assume minimal resistance, which is already a lowball for something
explicitly meant to stop high velocity projectiles. Using higher, but
still reasonable, PSI values would push the energy requirement up
considerably, even if we account for the glass being weakened by the
first impact. Bulletproof glass is designed to absorb and distribute
extreme kinetic energy without catastrophic failure. Cracking it at all
already places the feat well above things like breaking wooden walls or
drywall, which are commonly accepted as solid strength showings without
much pushback.
So yes, the calc is imperfect. It is both
inflated in some assumptions and conservative in others. Ultimately, it
doesn’t matter that much, because the lowest reasonable interpretation
of this feat is enough to demonstrate that Wick can output a lot of raw
force, and that’s all we need it to prove, because obsessing over exact
values will be a bit unnecessary (hence we didn’t make a new one).

Verdict
This verdict is going to be a bit different from the usual. We will initially discuss their Physical Stats and Combat Skill generally, but they won’t be our categories to decide the victory for either combatant. Instead, they will be the keys to decide who wins in Close Range and Long Range.
Physical Stats
Let’s start with speed. There are many ways we can take this, so let's cover the more conservative ends first. Beatrix is fast enough to react to baseballs and strike them with her sword at speeds exceeding 54.8 m/s. While that may not seem especially impressive at first glance, it still surpasses any speed Wick has directly demonstrated on his own. That said, Wick has held his ground against opponents capable of reacting to and catching arrows traveling at over 68.58 m/s. Chidi, in particular, moved at roughly 47 m/s to intercept such an arrow, and Wick was able to keep up with him in combat. It’s also worth noting that Wick is technically past his prime during the events of the films, suggesting he may have been somewhat faster at his peak. As a result, while Beatrix likely holds a slight edge in raw speed, Wick remains close enough to keep up with her… using low end interpretations.
Let's talk about those high ends. To be blunt, a lot of arguments simply don't work, be it Beatrix’s fight with Yuki in the Lost Chapter, John Wick 2’s roll dodge, John Wick 4’s nunchuck muzzle block, Hansel’s The Continental feat, etc. Upon closer examination, most of these instances amount to frame-one muzzle (that is, no tandem) and purely speculative assumptions. That said, there are a small number of feats that at least carry some legitimate weight. Beatrix has her feat of kicking a mug before the echo of a gunshot dissipates, assuming the scene is meant literally and applying its maximum high-end value of 177.10 m/s, or a little over half the speed of sound. We've already discussed why this interpretation is a bit generous, and you could argue it’s inconsistent with the depiction of Beatrix's speed throughout the films. But if you're okay with this interpretation, that means Beatrix can move and react at half the speed of sound. It's not like Wick has anything that's even remotely close to thi- what do you mean he's actually moved in tandem with bullets?
We rapid-fired a lot of bad arguments, but it probably shouldn't come as a surprise that, in an ever-expanding franchise full of guns, it was only a matter of time before someone actually pulled it off. In this case, it was the man himself, during his fight with Eve in The Ballerina. Eve fires her gun, and Wick doesn't fully shield himself until after the bullet leaves its chamber. A Glock-17's muzzle velocity is 375 m/s, over twice as fast as Beatrix's coffee kick, and Wick himself would've had to move at a speed of 157.45 m/s to block it. There’s not really anything significantly wrong to note about this feat, besides the fact that, similar to Beatrix's case, it’s inconsistent with the depiction of Wick's speed throughout the films, given his focus is more on aim-dodging than keeping up with bullets.
In summary, Beatrix holds a slight speed advantage at roughly 1.17x faster when we use the most consistent and reasonable ends for both, though not to the extent that Wick would be unable to keep up. Only by granting her every possible benefit of the doubt with the mug feat would the gap widen significantly, raising her advantage to about 3.77x. Then again, Wick’s own feat gets a value that would make her only 1.12x faster. Of course, you could also only use Wick’s high-end, given it has more room to be argued as valid than Beatrix’s feat, as it relies on reaction speed whereas hers is more technical in nature, which would make him 2.87x faster. For our blog, we are keeping the comparison with the more consistent and reasonable ends, which would favor the Black Mamba over the Baba Yaga.
Feel free to disagree with our choice, as this ultimately comes down to interpretation and is subjective. There are two main reasons we’re going with this: first, based on presentation alone, Beatrix reasonably comes across as the faster character to most casual viewers; and second, we’re not comfortable pushing their high-ends much further, given how readily feats tend to be dismissed as outliers in the community. We do wanna emphasize that, if you buy Beatrix’s feat, you need to buy Wick’s, as his feat is slightly more reasonable to argue as valid overall. We also wanna emphasize that, if you buy other technical in-tandem feats for other characters in other franchises, then it also gets really hard to be honest with yourself and not buy Beatrix Kiddo’s at the same time. It’s worth noting that Wick’s extensive use of firearms would still keep him back in the game regardless, since bullet speeds exceed her reaction capabilities even under high-end interpretations, so this isn't changing our verdict here that much, don’t worry about it.
Moving to strength, you might expect Beatrix to take this category without much trouble. After all, she can throw people through walls, cut grown men in half, and even dig herself out of her own grave. But surprisingly, Wick actually comes out ahead here. Beatrix’s best showing would be throwing Ellen through a wooden wall, which would require a force of no more than 187 kilojoules. That is impressive, but Wick has physically shattered bulletproof glass, feats that required at least 3400 kilojoules of energy. That puts him at roughly 18x times stronger than Beatrix’s best feat. Even her feat of slicing through a Crazy 88 member is far less demanding by comparison, and it likely did not require her full strength to accomplish given the sharpness of the sword. It’s also worth noting that 3400 kilojoules is likely much lower than the feat actually should get, so this is a bare minimum difference - it’s likely much greater than this.
But even setting the numbers aside for a moment, digging yourself out of a grave might sound more impressive than breaking glass at first. In practice, though, it likely requires less raw strength. Beatrix escaped gradually, breaking through the coffin with repeated strikes and working her way through the surrounding material over time. Shattering ballistic glass, on the other hand, requires a large amount of force delivered and is objectively far more difficult than breaking through wood and packed soil.
It may be unexpected, but no matter how you look at it, Wick ultimately holds the strength advantage over Beatrix.
Combat Skill
The Bride and Wick are exceptional martial artists that are proficient in several martial arts. It’s fair to say that Kill Bill has a greater focus on martial arts than the John Wick movies do, but that doesn’t mean Wick can’t hold his own. Zero and Caine are master martial artists that fight pretty similarly to Beatrix and Wick was able to hold his own against them. Like Beatrix, Wick has also fought his way through hordes of assassins. Beatrix’s sword is better than Wick’s and could easily cut him in two if he’s not careful, but slicing Wick in two isn’t any more or less effective than Wick just shooting her at close range with a gun. Same goes for gouging out his eye or using the exploding heart technique. That’s not any more or less deadly than just shooting her.
Overall, we think it’s fair to call Wick and Beatrix equals in this category. Beatrix technically has more techniques than Wick, but Wick has proven that he can hold his own against an assassin like Beatrix, and both have ways of instantly killing the other up, whether it be Beatrix slicing his head in half or Wick shooting her with a pistol in a vital area. Wick having the better marksmanship helps us to consider them overall equals, showing they only diverge on which field one is better.
Who Wins?
Close Range
Now let’s start talking about close range, because this is where things get interesting. On paper, this is Beatrix’s territory. She’s arguably more agile and her swordsmanship is better than anything Wick has shown with a melee weapon. If this turns into a pure blade fight, a hand-to-hand exchange, or anything where Wick chooses to lead with something that isn’t a gun, then yeah, Beatrix probably takes that. Her slight speed advantage and superior technique would give her the edge in that kind of exchange. After all, if the blade connects, the surface area alone means it will cut, and that is more than enough to be lethal against Wick, especially considering we are talking about Hanzo’s sword and not some run-of-the-mill katana.
But here’s the problem: unlike Beatrix, who prefers using her katana, dagger and knife over the barely used Star Firestar M-45, Wick’s first instinct in almost every fight is to go for his firearms. It’s his primary win condition, the thing he’s trained around, and the tool he consistently relies on to finish opponents quickly and efficiently. To top it off, Wick is a gun-fu fighter. His entire main style of fighting revolves around integrating firearms into close-quarters combat. He doesn’t treat guns only as long-range tools, he uses them at point-blank distance, during grapples, clinches, and takedowns. And at that range, things get a lot more dangerous for Beatrix. Dodging or deflecting bullets from across a room is one thing. Trying to evade multiple shots fired from a few feet away, mid-engagement, is a completely different story.
Yes, both of them are skilled enough to kill each other up close. Beatrix can cut him in half, crush his eye, or end the fight with the Five Point Palm technique. But Wick doesn’t need anything that elaborate. One clean shot at point-blank range ends the fight just as decisively, and his entire combat style is built around creating those openings. So while Beatrix definitely wins the exchanges where Wick opts to engage without firearms and gets on grappling distance, that’s not the situation we expect to happen most of the time. Guns are Wick’s default, and in close quarters they become even harder for her to deal with, an area she fumbled multiple times. Between his reliance on firearms, his efficiency at point-blank range, and the fact that his preferred fighting style directly counters her ability to safely close distance, Wick is simply more likely to land the decisive hit first.
Long Range
Ok, let’s not beat around the bush here. At a distance, it’s pretty obvious that Wick holds the edge here. Beatrix only has one gun in her arsenal. Wick carries several of them. Wick also wears bulletproof armor, which he can use to stop bullets. Beatrix on the other hand wears no such thing and doesn’t really have anything that would let her take a bullet, besides plot saving her ass after fumbling with getting shot. Factor in Wick’s explosives and it’s pretty clear he has many ways of controlling the battlefield.
But wait, I hear you say. This isn’t something Beatrix hasn’t dealt with before. After all, she was able to evade Yuki long enough to get a fatal blow, and Yuki specialized in guns herself. Is it possible for The Bride to do the same thing here? It’s possible, yes. Is it likely? Probably not.
Unfortunately, comparing Yuki to Wick is like comparing Dan Hibiki to Kenshiro. Both may specialize in firearms, yes, but Wick is clearly the more skilled of the two. Wick carries more guns than her and has much better accuracy. Yuki is essentially a loose cannon with no discipline. Not to mention that Beatrix was also pretty much on the backfoot for most of that fight and nearly lost anyway. Yes, we did compare Zero, Eve, and Caine to Beatrix, but those assassins are way more similar to Beatrix in terms of fighting style than a loose cannon like Yuki is to John Wick. Yuki also didn’t wear bulletproof armor. We’re pretty sure that would’ve stopped her from getting shot in the first place.
Think of it like this: if Beatrix struggled with and was nearly killed by marksman with less accuracy and skill than Wick, as well as less guns and no bulletproof armor, we can’t say we see her doing too well in a long range fight with Jordani. It would be a very uphill battle for her to overcome. Even considering her claim of being equal to Annie Oakley, Wick definitely has way, way more marksmanship feats to actually prove his superiority in this field, and also way more ammo at his disposal.
Overall, Wick’s arsenal gives him an overwhelming advantage for any long range battle. But that’s not where we are ending. Wait what?
Vehicle Fight
We didn’t include their vehicles for nothing, let’s now discuss what happens if the fight starts at long range and both of them are already on the move. Beatrix’s fastest option is her Kawasaki ZZR 250, which tops out at around 170 km/h. That’s decent, but Wick’s Yamaha MT-09 pushes well past that, reaching around 210 to 215 km/h. That speed gap is extremely relevant, because in a fight where firearms can be the deciding factor, controlling distance is a huge deal.
The same problem shows up with her cars. The Pussy Wagon is a heavy-duty pickup truck. It’s durable, sure, but it’s not built for speed or maneuverability. The modified Karmann Ghia is faster thanks to the Porsche engine, but even then, it’s still not matching the performance of Wick’s 1969 Mustang Boss 429, which can realistically push around 195 to 205 km/h. On top of that, Wick has already demonstrated that he’s extremely comfortable fighting while driving, using his car aggressively, ramming opponents, and even weaponizing damaged parts of the vehicle itself. That leads us to another topic: durability. Wick’s Mustang takes an absurd amount of punishment in the films and keeps going. Beatrix’s vehicles, on the other hand, aren’t shown handling that kind of sustained abuse. If this turns into a vehicular chase or a game of deadly Mario Kart, Wick’s ride is far, far more suited for it. Especially when the Karmann Ghia is a convertible.
And then… there’s the horse. Yeah, it’s mobile, and it’s actually pretty useful in tight urban spaces. But in an open, long-range scenario, it’s simply not competing with high-performance vehicles that can triple its top speed. Beatrix is killing that damn horse. We’re sorry an animal has to die but it’s just the way this goes.
Overall, the point we are trying to make here is that, again, Wick who benefits more from fighting while driving. He has repeatedly shown he can shoot accurately while driving or riding at high speed. Vehicle combat is something he actively incorporates into his fighting style. Beatrix, by contrast, doesn’t really have comparable showings, as most of her combat happens on foot. If that wasn’t enough, most of her vehicles are just not as fast. So when you put it all together, Wick has the clear edge in this category (again).
Summary
Beatrix
Advantages:
- Slightly faster, whether considering reasonable or higher ends…

- Superior swordsmanship
- Would kill the horse
Equal:
- Combat skill should be similar enough
- Great movies
Disadvantages:
- Weaker
- Worse vehicles overall
- …wouldn't be consistently faster than guns regardless, which doesn’t bode well with someone like Wick regardless of range

- …but even under close range, gets hard to avoid them given Wick’s knowledge Gun-Fu and gets dominated in long range
Wick
Advantages:
- Stronger
- A much more expansive arsenal that covers more range
- Has numerous methods of one-shotting Beatrix from close to long range…
- Actually wears armor that can stop a bullet
- Has the better vehicles overall…
- While famous as a dog person, he also likes cats
- Keanu Reeves is 2-0 in our blogs
Equal:
- Combat skill should be similar enough
- Great movies
Disadvantages:
- Slightly slower at both reasonable and high ends
- …but would lose if he doesn’t start the fight with guns at close range
- …not the horse tho
Conclusion
Ok, maybe we're exaggerating a little bit, but at the same time, it's hard to see this match going any other way. Beatrix may be argued to have superior speed, has the better swordsmanship and very much comparable skill to Wick… but there's a reason why you don't bring a sword to a gun fight unless you’re Roronoa Zoro or Kenshin Himura. Even in situations that turn into close combat, we also need to admit that the initial engagement would usually occur at a reasonable distance, and Beatrix has very little ways of closing the gap for her advantages to matter. Wick has too many guns and Beatrix doesn't have the defense needed to stop a bullet.
Realistically, this fight would most likely play out like Beatrix's fight with Yuki. Beatrix would be forced to keep her distance thanks to Wick's arsenal and have little opportunity to get in close. Unlike Yuki, Wick has way more than one gun, is a far better shot, and wears bulletproof armor, meaning he would win the war of attrition when it comes to range. Even if Beatrix did close the gap, he's skilled enough to hold his own, and shooting Beatrix at close range is just as lethal as stabbing Wick. We hate to keep harping on this point, but Beatrix explicitly does not have the reaction time needed to dodge a bullet, let alone at close range. Wick can at least dodge her sword swings or disarm her, dominating close combat with grappling thanks to his superior strength or just disabling her limbs with joint strikes and locks. That’s mostly where the debate starts and ends. We hope this blog didn’t come much as…
…because all of us really love Kill Bill and wanted to give The Bride her flowers where it’s due. That being said, we need to be impartial and just be blunt when a character just doesn’t win something. Well, to be fair, this one was to be expected. Beatrix has only killed one Bill, but John killed Three Bills. The winner is John Wick.
