Before We Start
Flip: This blog was made pretty much entirely by Kaze, with the exception of the credited people down below. Neither me, Kaiser or Strunt deserve to be credited by this blog, we are merely hosting for our friend.
Kaze: Blaster Master Zero is a reboot of the NES classic from 1988 but borrows more from its Japanese release, Chou Wakusei Senki Metafight which became a part of this rebooted continuity, as it takes place before the events of BMZ1. This basically narrows down the research to four main games as a part of Jason’s research. Metafight from 1988, Blaster Master Zero 1 from 2017, Blaster Master Zero 2 from 2019 and Blaster Master Zero 3 from 2021, as well as any accompanying official statements, descriptions and interviews provided from Sunsoft or Inti Creates. Any of the other Blaster Master related games and its accompanying novel are not going to be featured here as they are part of a different continuity.
I would also like to credit and thank the following people:
- Mikhail for calculations, translations, helping me refine any questions and answers and overall just a great friend
- Smashtwig on VSBW for having previously documented plenty of the scans present
- Why am I here, the owner of G3 blogs who had done Zero VS Copen as a blog in the past, which featured some Blaster Master Zero notes that I’m using here
- Yuix, who I commissioned to make the intro image
Should also go without saying that spoilers for the entire Blaster Master Zero Trilogy will be present here, so if you have some interest in the series then I highly recommend you play through those first before reading this (they go on sale pretty frequently).
Biography
The year was 2062, Earth had finally begun its path to recovery after a second ice age forced everyone to live underground. Our story begins from zero with one of these inhabitants being a young boy named Jason Frudnick. Born as a genetically modified lab baby, Jason had a gift for science and is considered a luminary in the field of robotics. One day while doing research, he stumbled across a creature he had never seen before and took it so that he could do more research on it, officially naming it “Fred”. Fred escaped however and fell into a hole, prompting Jason to follow after him but what was awaiting him was unlike any other thing. A pink tank was just there in the underground and it was named “SOPHIA-III”. With no other leads, Jason climbed aboard the machine as it was his only safe bet to find Fred, and with this, his underground adventure began.
Traveling through the underground wasn’t going to be easy as it was greatly overrun by mutants who love to terrorize life on planets. But thanks to SOPHIA’s fighting capabilities, Jason would be blasting the mutant opposition with ease. And the cool thing is that the tank came with a pilot suit and Blaster Rifle of its own, so when the situation calls for it, Jason can take matters into his own hands. However, traversing the subterranean world wasn’t going to be easy if it was only him. The isolation of doing nothing but blasting the enemy over and over again could drive anyone into madness, let alone a 15 year old boy but there would be a small light to give him hope. As it turned out, Jason managed to find another person in the underground and it was a girl named Eve, who suffered memory loss yet still felt a strange connection with the SOPHIA vehicle that Jason was piloting. Together, the two teamed up to traverse the underground in search of Fred and they finally did so but with knowledge to shock Jason. The truth was that Fred was always a robot, not from Earth and the same was true for Eve. Fred and Eve were a part of an intergalactic plan to send Metal Attackers like SOPHIA-III to other planets to fight off the mutant menace. This… didn’t really surprise him all that much. It didn’t really matter if Eve and Fred were robots because they were the first people Jason got to understand and interact with. Jason found himself growing attached to Eve, wanting to support her anyway he can and that’s why he was committed to finishing the job, with a final fight deep into the underground against the Multidimensional Overlord and coming out on top, the Earth was saved and Jason could finally live peacefully again, with Eve and Fred as companions… or so he thought. Eve knocked him out unconscious and took SOPHIA-III into a brand new area as she caught on that something wasn’t right and did not want Jason to risk his life anymore. Worried for her wellbeing, Jason wanted to do whatever it took to reach Eve again and he’d soon have another lucky break as he managed to get a brand new Metal Attacker known as “SOPHIA Zero” and with its capabilities, he and Fred sought out to save Eve.
As it turns out, the thing Eve was trying to get Jason away from was a specialized mutant known as the Mutant Core, which had infected and taken over SOPHIA-III and trapped Eve within it. With SOPHIA Zero however, Jason managed to weaken it enough for him to jump out and save Eve and with one well charged Acceleration Blast, completely destroyed the mutant menace once and for all, saving all of Earth. But this would only be the start of a greater journey. As if it was some sort of cosmic retribution, the Mutant Core had infected Eve, causing her to mutate and be put on death’s doorway. Realizing there might be an answer to curing her mutation back on her home planet of Sophia, Jason and company climbed aboard the brand new G-SOPHIA, a brand new Metal Attacker built by him and Eve, and set off for the depths of outer space. A new environment meant new threats but it also meant new allies like the rebellious Gonbei, the strange Kanna and the mighty Stein. Each one of these pilots helped Jason and Eve along their way and despite some clashes against Leibniz, even he pitched in to help out and together with these pilots in unity, outer space was saved and Jason and Eve finally managed to make it to planet Sophia, where Eve was finally cured of her mutation and they received the warmest of welcomes…
Which is to say they were immediately arrested and held captive by the Sophia Force and had many of their weapons confiscated. Shortly after the arrest, a mutant outbreak occurred and everything at the Sophia Base was in shambles. Eve somehow managed to disappear from everyone and Jason took the time to get his Metal Attacker back, the upgraded G-SOPHIA Supreme Vehicle and after a quick scuffle with senior mutant fighter Kane Gardner, Jason took off to make his escape and his search for Eve. He would unfortunately have to buddy up with Leibniz, who wishes nothing more than his demise but that hardly mattered to him especially when he was more focused on finding Eve. The more he traveled, the more he was pushing himself to the limit. From enduring the harshness of super-dimensional space to not even doing maintenance on his vehicle, Jason kept trucking along for clues about Eve’s whereabouts and he’d eventually get hit with some shocking news: Eve was now the Mutant Queen. All the mutants trying to attack him now were just fighters doing whatever it took to protect the queen but Jason did not let that impede him. Eventually, he came face to face with the remnant of Planade-G, which had captured and been using Eve for its own nefarious purposes. With one last push, Jason fought to the very end and poured everything he had into one last shot, his heart deciding the answer and defeated Planade-G once and for all, freeing Eve but now things were different. Despite the rescue, Eve was dead set on leaving behind the universe, having acclimated to super-dimensional space and can no longer live in normal space, away from Jason, and thus no longer wanting to endanger him. But this just didn’t sit right with him. He knew something wasn’t right.
No matter how much stuff he went through, Eve was always there for him and she was the first person Jason actually interacted with. This strong feeling for her, worrying for her safety, Jason knew that she was the most important person to him and no amount of dimensional shenanigans was going to stop him. So with one last chance, he activated the Vision Reversal System and “reversed” everything, which led to Eve’s seemingly cold, hardened outside to shatter and reveal her true feelings for Jason with the magic words…

Arsenal
G-Blaster Rifle
- RG-Blaster: Fires out energy shots in a straight line and can charge up its shot to do even more damage. When Jason uses this after a Counter, he gets a full charge shot immediately to use.
- High Diffusion: A spray of bullets that function like a shotgun and hit hard. The further they travel, the more they spread out.
- Turbo Whip: A short ranged energy whip that Jason can use to hit enemies up close. He can do quick whip combos and it has the capability to delete enemy projectiles. It’s also a part of a combo with the IX Shredder and Rushing Attacker
- Lock-On Striker: It locks onto every enemy in range and those enemies can then have electricity zapped into them, stunning them in the process.
- Cross Wave: A double helix path of energy that hits enemies and can bypass walls. It also leaves behind a damaging energy residue for good measure.
R-Blaster Rifle
- Blast Launcher: Fires out an energy grenade that explodes upon impact with the ground, wall or an enemy. Has 15 shots.
- Unchained Effector: Deploys a field that when Jason is inside of it, forcibly locks onto all enemies and gets them ready to be hit with a Blast Counter. Lasts for 15 seconds.
- IX Shredder: A set of 4 spinning blades that spin around Jason and acts like a shield or cut up enemies trying to get in close. This weapon can be tossed forward and is a part of a combo with the Turbo Whip and Rushing Attacker. Carries 12.
- Graviton Eraser: Small black holes that can suck in enemy projectiles and enemies themselves, though much larger enemies will be unaffected. Has 6 shots.
- Elemental Blaster: A weapon created using the Nu-Nasae Herb and said to be able to eradicate mutant cells. Jason charges up a ton of energy using his own life and heart and once fully maxed out, unleashes a giant laser beam that completely annihilates everything in its path. If that's not all, Jason can add an extra big blast after the main laser shot. Can only be used 1 time.
Blast Counters
- Reflex Striker: Jason dodges the enemy’s incoming attack and fires off counter shots at them in retaliation.
- Shift-Up Attacker: Jason rushes up to the nearest enemy at high speeds and fires off a point blank shot at them.
- Vector Reflector: Deploys a field that takes all enemy projectiles within and sends them back towards the attacker with even more power. The closer the projectile is, the more damage it deals when reflected.
- Rushing Attacker: Jason moves fast enough that he reappears behind enemies and blasts them at point blank, also recovering some health and energy in the process.
- Spinning Reflector: A reflector barrier that automatically activates whenever Jason performs a Spin Dash, reflecting any projectiles back to the sender.
Sub-Weapons
- Grenades: Standard throwable explosives that explode upon contact
- Flash Bomb: An explosive that creates a bright flash of light and paralyzes enemies briefly. Also used to light up dark areas.
- Turrets: Devices that fire energy shots all around the area and blow up once they expire.
- Remote Blast: Jason can call in a remote strike from his Metal Attacker to bombard enemies with several shots.
- Torch Mine: Mines that explode upon someone making contact with one. It leaves behind an area of fire to burn anyone still in the vicinity.
- Flash Sphere: An energy sphere that’s tossed forward and detonates either after a while or on command, hitting enemies multiple times.
- Flash Striker: An electrical variant of the Flash Sphere. The electricity it emits can be directed to enemies tagged with Stinger shots.
- Reactive Comet: Bits that orbit around Jason and shield him from harm. The bits are used up when they absorb an attack or strike an enemy. They can be fired off using a Counter.
- Absolute Comet: An ice version of the Reactive Comet. Functions the same but can also freeze enemies in place.

Main Energy
Weapons focused on the main cannon used to blast enemies apart. The shutdown associated with this energy supply is weakened firepower by only firing off weak energy bullets.
- Crusher: Fires off basic energy shots that travel in a straight line. While its power is weaker than the others, it’s the only one that actually won’t use energy.
- Crusher+: A stronger version of the Crusher shot.
- Anti-SF Ammo: Fast firing shells that travel in a straight line. Despite their namesake, these shells are good against machines in general, not just Sophia Force ones.
- Rain Cluster: Rapid fire flame bombs that scatter and spread out and ignite upon collision with terrain, leaving behind damaging flames.
Sub Energy
Weapons focused as sidearms to help support Jason in combat or provide extra utility to him. The shutdown associated with this energy supply is being unable to use these extra tools and the Hover and Wall Driver functions being disabled.
- Warhead Missiles: 3 missiles fly out in a wave pattern to explode enemies.
- Homing Lasers: Laser weapons installed by his number one hater, Leibniz. Fires out 6 lasers to home in on a single target or can target up to 6 targets and hit them with 1 strong laser.
- Ignition Spark: Drops a plug onto the ground that deploys an electric shield and releases 2 electric orbs that travel along the ground. The shield greatly increases in size if timed with a strong leap and if any of those orbs collide with the plug, it releases a burst of electricity, damaging anything in the vicinity. It can also be used to light up dark places and power up generators.
- Aqua Shift: Transforms the vehicle into a quasi-fluid and shifts its gravity vector to go forth. In this state, it can be used to put out fires, go through fences and enemies or conduct electricity to damage enemies.
- Phantom Solid: Creates blocks that the machine can use as a platform.
- Final Accel Blast: History’s greatest weapon in mutant blasting. Sophia-J1 will begin charging up energy, using both supplies to power it up and it can be assisted with the Gaia System. Once it’s reached maximum power, it can launch it off as a massive scale explosion of energy that reaches into outer space, completely wiping out anything that can’t withstand the force. The only downside is that it leaves Sophia-J1 with very little energy.
Extra Functions
The maneuverability options and extra features that Sophia-J1 can use.
- Hover: The wheels on J1 also double as thrusters to help propel the machine into the air and fly to higher spots. These thrusters can also double for standard flight in environments such as outer space. Using Hover by itself and then falling will reduce the energy gained from the Gaia System. This function consumes Sub Energy.
- Recoil Jump: Given to Jason by Gonbei back in Zero 2, this allows J1 to wall jump and reach higher places. Since it also counts as touching the ground, it can be used to gain loads of energy with the Gaia System
- Multi-Leg: Swaps out the wheels for some mechanical legs that can be used to traverse otherwise harmful terrain. It also confuses a certain mutant type into not attacking it.
- Counter-Barrier: An upgrade made using part of the Nu-Nasae Herb. This allows the Metal Attacker to completely be unaffected by dimensional tears, letting it move freely as if it were flying through the air.
- Wall Driver: Sophia-J1 can drive up walls. This function consumes Sub Energy.

Scaling
Mutants and Mutant Bosses
The main enemies that Jason fights throughout the series. Given that he and his Metal Attackers have consistently bested armies of them and he’s fought the strongest bosses as well, he should reasonably be comparable to everything they have to offer.
- The Invem Dark Star Army severed the leylines of planet Sophia and rendered it a “dead planet”
- Mutants can extinguish and destroy stars over time
- Central Gear can attack with electromagnetic beams (0.17c, Relatavistic)
- Mockrantula can encompass an entire planet with webs
- Skeleton Boss can devour planets over time. The rest of its body also serves as an entire Area.
- It’s upgrades, Cerbeboss and Metal Cerbeboss are stronger than it
- Cerbeboss is also stated to be able to parasitize an entire planet’s core
- Dig-Rawler is thought to be the one responsible for creating the dimensional distortion that split the planet Divido in half
- Planade-G can blow up the whole universe should its energy go off (Universal)
- Drolrevo is stated to be able to destroy dimensional space
Metal Attacker Pilots
Pilots from other planets who have their own specific Metal Attackers as part of the Metal Attacker Project. All currently known pilots have been bested in combat by Jason or he has matched against, so he should be comparable to what they have to offer as well.
- Leibniz pilots Garuda, which can fly at faster than light speeds (FTL)
- It’s upgraded form, Rising Garuda should heavily upscale this
- Garuda is capable of flying from Earth to Sophia (At least FTL, Possibly 227.91 million times FTL to 640.49 billion times FTL, See Q & A)
- Leibniz states that they flew around the universe
- Kane’s fight with Goez causes a giant tower to collapse
- Eve adds some her of own power to Andreia’s Acceleration Blast that tore through Drolrevo’s cocoon
- Kane defeated the Rising Garuda, the upgrade to the regular Garuda and flies much faster
Copen Kamizono
In Luminous Avenger iX2, Jason can be fought as a DLC boss. In the fight, it is explained that Copen’s rifle is the same exact one that Jason is using, both of which were based off a broken rifle that Eve found in Area Omega. Not only that, Jason also reveals that his own suit improvements were based off of Copen’s as well. The two then fight and while Jason doesn’t win, he’s still capable of hurting the Luminous Avenger, meaning he should still be some level comparable to him. Should be specified that while this is the Luminous Avenger version of Copen, who only experienced the events of ASG1 and iX1, recent developments in ASG3 kinda make it so that he’d still be comparable to a majority of feats in both ASG2 and 3, in addition to the other games. More info about this crossover will be in the Q & A section.
- The Azure Striker Septima allows the user to manipulate and control lightning
- Copen’s Divider fires out photons
- Viper has been stated to be able to fight at light speed by Jota (LS)
- Jota’s Septima is called “Lightspeed” (LS)
- Tenjian can flash freeze entire cities
- Copen has defeated Kirin, who can:
- Defeat Shiron, whose “Overclock” Septima can perform calculations at light speed
- Defeat ZedΩ, who can harness the Sun’s nuclear fusion
- Defeat Grazie, who created the Sunrise Palace
Q & A Stuff
Scaling to Metal Attackers
Metal Attackers are the super powered machines used by various pilots in the series and the main method of fighting off the mutants. At first glance, it seems unlikely for any of the MA pilots to be able to scale to any MA and it can be seen with Jason’s fight against the corrupted Invem Sophia, as his rifle is largely ineffective against it and has to resort to running away from it until he can reach Sophia Zero.
But this changes with both Zero 2 and 3 giving very good ways for Jason to scale to Metal Attackers. In Zero 2, during his on-foot fight with sworn rival Leibniz, the Nomad Berserker calls in his Metal Attacker to blast Jason to pieces. Jason can survive hits from Garuda and react to its attacks. When Planade-G goes unstable and blows up, the entire Sophia crew is forcibly separated away from the MA and from each other, and considering that Eve and Fred aren’t the fighters of their crew and both managed to survive, Jason should be comparable to them without a doubt, especially since Eve’s condition has been worsening since the start of the game.
In Zero 3, Jason himself defeats both the Metal Cerbeboss and Bloodstained Planade-G bosses and it wouldn’t be because of the Accel Charger amp because it was specified earlier that he’s not using it that way and the Planade-G fight also took a lot of his energy as well. Later on, when Kane visits Earth, he is attacked by Gonbei and he’s assisted by Tae using Kuebiko to assault Kane by firing at him with its bullets and Jason should be pretty comparable to his senior mutant killer. Lastly, Jason is capable of hurting and defeating the same kinds of enemies that the Metal Attacker fights against, including the aforementioned Metal Cerbeboss and Bloodstained Planade-G.
Overall, it should be pretty reasonable that Jason should scale to Metal Attackers as many things do point to it being very possible and there is a degree of consistency to it. Basically think of it like scaling a Power Ranger to their Zord or scaling Ken the Eagle to the Science Ninja Team Vehicles (wink).
Garuda’s Flight
NORA MA-07 aka Garuda is a Metal Attacker capable of speeds faster than light, as established earlier. However, there is one speed feat it performs involving flying from planet Earth to Sophia. Results for this feat can vary between the millions times FTL ranges all the way to the billions times FTL ranges depending on the distance used as planet Sophia is located in another fictional galaxy. Arguments for and against this feat being legitimate exist so I’ll try to address them right here
Jason does in fact use wormholes to travel between different space sectors throughout Zero 2 but this is only because that is Fred’s unique ability to sync up with them. Leibniz’ own Support Animal hasn’t had any of its capabilities shown off yet but others such as Tappy, Yacopu and Mr. Mug have, and none of them have shown the ability to create wormholes meaning that it is unlikely for Jao to also be able to create wormholes to shorten the trip time.
The MA Markers have shown off to be able to shorten the time for interstellar trips by going to another MA’s location and this is how Gonbei, Kanna and Stein arrive to help Eve out in the final battle. The reason they could do this is because Eve actually had their MA Markers in her possession but she never received the one for Garuda, meaning Leibniz could not have used a wormhole to shorten the trip.
So with the two major counterarguments against this cleared up, this means the feat is totally fine to use, right? …right?
While I do think it is unlikely that wormhole shenanigans were involved in the trip, it is ultimately still an “outer space flight” feat. For those who do not understand, these kinds of feats usually tend to be scrutinized as things can move faster than reactions allow, meaning it can be difficult to prove if a character can actually react at those speeds. It is not impossible but it can be tricky. In the case of Garuda, you can argue that it wouldn’t apply to reactions because all they had to do was drive the ship and you can’t argue they really had to react to anything on the way, especially when not much time has passed since Zero 2’s end and Zero’s 3 beginning. On the flip side, we know Leibniz has to be able to keep track of how he attacks while piloting Garuda and later does it with the Rising Garuda, which is even faster and even shows off flying at crazier angles during his fight showing that he can react at those kinds of speeds.
Where do I stand on this? You’re not supposed to stand on it. I am leaning towards the latter being the case. With Leibniz being able to keep up in terms of their reactions and piloting the much faster Rising Garuda, it would be pretty reasonable for them to have their reactions scale to their piloting.
Crossover with Gunvolt
As explained in the Copen scaling section, Jason should be comparable to him and thus, scale to a lot of the things he does. The question is if any of this should be used. The Copen that Jason fights is from the iX timeline, a timeline that splinters off from GV1 after its protagonist is shot and killed. This version of Copen ends up going through a different series of events than his GV timeline self would go through. Now normally, this would be the end of the story but that changes with the introduction of Kirin, the main protagonist of GV3. She is fightable in iX2 and more specifically, it's a Kirin during the events of GV3. The two fight on equal footing with Copen ultimately coming out on top. This means that iX Copen can still be comparable to many of the feats his GV self would scale to and likewise, Jason can also be scaled to these feats as he also fights Copen.
So a scaling chain is established so now it’s time for the big point of this topic: Should the crossover be taken into consideration? While his name isn't dropped per se, it’s pretty obvious Leibniz is referring to Copen in this conversation and makes sure to add the part about the idol music for good measure, though Jason is just completely flabbergasted and says he has no idea what he’s talking about. Of course, that’s just on Blaster Master Zero side of things, because in iX2, Jason does know who Copen is and goes as far as to say that he designed his suit upgrades based off of Copen’s and recognizes that he also has a modified Blaster Rifle, just like he does. Copen does take note that he does not recognize who he is however and Jason adds to this by saying the meeting was one-way. As of recent, it has been confirmed that Copen has in fact, visited the world of Blaster Master Zero and experienced many of the major events that transpired there, which included obtaining the Key Rifle and the explanation for why Copen does not remember any of this is just that it is an effect of dimensional travel.
So to sum it up, yes you can scale Jason to the various feats of Gunvolt. He’d also be upscaling a good chunk of those feats briefly mentioned as without the Rifle, Copen would’ve been getting rubbed out by the equivalent of Goombas in iX2. If you wanna get even wilder, there’s potential scaling chains to other series such as Dusk Diver but this is the major one I wanted to discuss and it is very likely the first one people are going to point out and it’s also the most direct.
To the “people who hate reading and instantly scroll to the bottom of blogs” Answer: It is confirmed Copen experienced the events of Blaster Master Zero 2 and the reason he forgot about this was due to the effects of dimension traveling. It’s also not comparable to arguing crossover scaling as the two just share a universe nowadays.
Match-Ups
So after reading all that, one might ask “Who can he fight?” and here are plenty of suggestions for whom the Blaster Master can face off.
Leo Corbett (Power Rangers)
Ah yes, one of the first ideas I liked for Jason. And I still like it. To begin, it all starts when both of them got their unlikely start thanks to someone falling down a hole. The two then went on their respective journeys, maturing in the process and becoming a hero. Part of the reason I like it is because I think there’s a solid balance between an on the ground fight and a fight involving the machines. The two have plenty of ways to bounce off of each other in both the close and long range fight and getting the machines involved just ramps up the fight, especially considering the size of the Galactabeasts isn’t anything new for Jason’s Metal Attacker to handle. Plus a final climax in which both fire out full powered blasts at point blank range is awesome and takes from a cool moment from Lost Galaxy’s final battle, cracked helmets and all. The drawing below is pretty much a good visual for that, which I commissioned from Dekhead a couple years back.
As for who I think wins, I heard things about Power Rangers getting everyone’s “favorite” of dimensional tiering, which if true and Leo does scale to it, then Jason just loses. Regardless, it's still a personal favorite of mine and one I’d be happy to see.
Andross (Star Fox)
Taking this idea from my good buddy Strunton on discord dot com. Both are highly prestigious scientists but whereas Jason’s efforts were used for good intentions and new breakthroughs, Andross’ efforts led to him being exiled and shunned and seeking vengeance for it. It’s a pretty interesting “Good VS Evil” kind of matchup to see how Jason can fight against the Venom Army, especially thanks to how multi-purpose Sophia-J1 is vs the numbers of the Venom Army and its own unique machines. I’d definitely say Jason has the firepower he needs to take down Andross.
Simon the Digger (Gurren Lagann)
It sounds really wild at first but there is stuff going for it. A boy who manages to find a machine in the underground and just decides to go for it and use it. They’d also manage to find a lost girl who ends up becoming one of the most important people in their lives and when they get taken away, they’ll fight to get them back even if it means defying authority. Of course, it’s just something I came up with on a whim so it’s not the strongest of connections but it is something I can vibe with. As for a fight, at most Jason’s Metal Attacker fought a planet larger than Earth, Simon’s mech grows larger than the universe, you can see how this plays out. Of course if you just did it man to man… Well Simon would still win really badly but the visual of him drilling through the Elemental Blaster is cool. Also as a minor bonus, you can make some comparison between Kamina and Gonbei, as Simon and Jason’s spiritually older brother figures.
Gunvolt (Azure Striker Gunvolt)
“But isn’t this technically a same series MU?” Well, yes. But that’s not to say it can’t exist. Both of them are Inti Creates’ protags that were gifted with an extraordinary trait with a contrast being that one is a science experiment and the other is a scientist. As for who wins, stats would be pretty dead even and Jason does have a leg up with some tools but ultimately Gunvolt takes it because he decided to become Yhwach from Bleach (can choose a more preferred future, ensuring he can win). As of writing this, GX has not come out yet and Gunvolt is playing a major role in that game so it’s make or break time.
Samus Aran (Metroid)
Very much focused on vibes and “yeah the comparison makes sense” if you look at both series gameplay. It does offer a pretty rock solid dynamic with both of them being able to go wild with their arsenals ranging from energy blasts to explosives and the occasional close combat sequence. If you also wanted to, you could incorporate both the Metal Attacker and Gunship into the mix as well. I personally don’t because I think the Gunship lacks the crazy firepower. Jason just stomps pretty handily here with a wider arsenal and just far superior stats but I would probably lean on this one being the best for a fight dynamic and if you like that despite the lack of real connections, then that’s perfectly a-ok.
Firefly (Honkai Star Rail)
Admittedly, this one I just came up with in 10 seconds and given that I already talked about Samus earlier, another Firefly MU, you could see this one is probably trying to riff off of that. There is something to work with here, about how both were artificially born into life but throughout their adventure, would encounter people who would be considered important to them, having that sense of found family. As for who wins, I have no clue as I’m aware Star Rail is a live service game that constantly gets updates, meaning the stuff from G1’s Samus VS Firefly blog might not be the most up to date information. If I go off of what the blog placed her at, Jason should win pretty easily but could always change in the future.
